Grab Bar Cost (Handrails & Security Poles Too!)

When it comes to keeping your home safe and accessible, especially as mobility becomes a challenge, small changes can make a big difference. At COR Freedom, we believe that creating a secure environment should be simple, practical, and affordable. Whether you’re thinking about grab bars, handrails, or even security poles, there are effective solutions for every home and budget. Let’s break down grab bar cost as well as a few other options.

Grab Bar Cost

Grab bars are a relatively inexpensive way to add safety to a home. Unless you choose to mount them yourself, the majority of the cost is going to be labor. The price will vary depending on the size of the grab bar, but here are some rough estimates:

  • 18”-24” Stainless Peened – $180 to $200 (including labor)
  • 32”-42” Stainless Peened – $320 to $350 (including labor)

If you opt for luxury designs or specific colors, you can expect to pay more, though the exact increase will depend on your choice.

Handrail Cost

People often overlook that handrails can be used for much more than just porch steps. Did you know they can be installed in nearly any room or hallway in your home? Handrails are an underutilized home safety solution. So, how much do they cost? Prices will vary based on the exact rail you choose, but most homeowners prefer a more upscale look when installing handrails inside their homes.

To give you an idea, pricing for a 1.5” powder-coated (colored) aluminum handrail typically runs between $12 and $14 per inch, including labor.

If outdoor posts are necessary (usually for porches or steps), each 4”x4” post with a 36” concrete base will cost around $200.

Security Poles Cost

What exactly is a security pole? Security poles, like the one shown below, are ideal when you need a grab bar in a place where there’s nowhere to attach one. Because they mount by tension between the floor and ceiling, you can place them almost anywhere—next to a couch, a toilet, a shower, or even a kitchen table.

A great feature of security poles is that, since they are tension-mounted and require no drilling, you can easily move them from one location to another without leaving a trace.

For a security pole like the one from Stander, Inc., you can expect to pay between $280 and $300. If you need help with installation, we include labor at no extra charge.
